Last I remember Nintendo announcing games like this (Smash4, Zelda BotW, SM3DW, MK8), only 3D Mario released the following year, so I'm skeptical on Metroid. However Pokemon is a different beast, with Sun/Moon only having logo's for their announcement but still releasing in the same year, so I think a 2018 release is possible. Of course I'll excuse both not making 2018 as long as we get Animal Crossing!
