Nintendo has been known to announce a game and release it just a few months later.  Donkey Kong Country Returns for instance.   Announced at E3, launched that November, development actually began 2 years before announcing it.

The fact all they showed was a logo should not be taken as a measure for how far into development they are.  What they show is more of a marketing factor.  Do they want the focus on 2017 and early 2018 games or games they could focus on at E3 2018?   The logo keeps the crowd interesting and excited without taking focus away from near release titles.

Those almost certainly early 2018...as in pre-E3 2018 titles.  Can't show them off at E3 next year if they've already released.

To add they would have seen what Microsoft and Sony showed off and could have decided not to bother showing a full blow trailer last minute. A E3 2018 trailer and gameplay on the show floor for a late 2018 holidays release would be perfect hype and momentum just before launching the game.

Nice theory, but given that we already knew how long would the Spotlight be, 25 minutes, before the conferences of both Sony and Microsoft, I don't see how that is possible.
