I think it's good enough for DQ as I'm very familiar with the series anyway. Of course not enough to understand more than half of it but if any game motivates me to polish up my Japanese it's DQ.

It's my favorite series, so I get ya! I usually wait for the english release since the localization for DQ games tends to be really really good, imo. Actually, you might know, do they uses colloquial speak in the Japanese ver. too or is that just english?
