I try to take the average of professional reviews to get a more realistic result unless its a reviewer I know has similar tastes to mine and might think his/her review was more important to me. When you get the same game with a wide range of review scores as someone has previously stated it could be a more love/hate type game that you may find you dislike so trying before hand gets more important.

I think Arms looks like it has little single player content which may be important to many people where as if you are buying with multiplayer in mind it is a lot more appealing. That may be the basis of the love/hate issue with this game.
