I bet this means year 2, nintendo switch software output drops, and in year 3 theres droughts for the switch like the Wii U had. Unless Nintendo Switch sales kick off like the Wii. This bugs me, I hope Reggie is wrong or lying. |
seems like an unrealistic expecatation. The Switch year 1 already has miles more support from the big N than the Wii U year 1 did. I'm not sure why you'd expect that to change going forward. Nintendo has plenty of titles to push for next year certainly (Animal Crossing? Kirby? Smash Bros? Maybe Metroid at the end of 2018?), and we have no idea what a few of their studios are working on (Retro for example).
I think it's quite simple- Nintendo and Reggie are probably exaggerating about HOW much they're going to support the 3DS but don't want to scare people away from buying the system, particularly when they're about to launch that new model in a month. Of course they aren't going to say "we'll be pretty much done withthe system after 2018" and scare away adopters.
And also logically I think it's safe to say they're going to release a few more decent titles on the 3DS. Its easy sales and easy money. Why would they cut that off. Supporting the 3DS a LITTLE bit doesn't really necessarily effect the Switch
if you look at Nintendo's releases for the rest of 2017 for the Switch compared to the 3DS- the Switch has a massive amount of the emphasis.
this is just PR talk and representative of Nintendo's goals to continue making loads of extra cash from those who own 3DS's and those who still might buy one. It's easy money without a lot of work at this point. They'd be wasting revenue opportunity to announce that the 3DS was being killed anytime soon
