Wikipedia and VGChartz

So where does VGChartz get its information or sources on the software and hardware sales, are they just taking a really good guess or is there a certain website were they get everything from?

I think its like getting a sample of a few % of store sales and calculating that into nation wide numbers but im not sure.  No company gets facts though, only shipment can be a fact not sales.
