I thought the reveal trailer looked very generic and lifeless. After watching the Treehouse segment, the new trailer, and checking out some of the music tracks, it's gone from "not interested yet" to "will probably buy" in my mind. I still find the art style rather uninspired, but the world seems much more lively and appealing than it initially seemed, the music is superb, the news that it will be more story-focussed like the first game is great to hear, and the return of British VA is a big win in my book. The latter three points are particularly significant as they mean three of my main gripes with XCX seem to have been addressed. I had held out hope that this would be one of those games that looked blah when first revealed but improved in the run up to release, and thankfully this appears to be the case. |
Yep, I wasn't sure after watching the XC2 trailer in the event, but the gameplay sold me. The world feels vast in scope, and lively. The gameplay was changed a bit to make it more accesible. I personally find great the idea of having all the arts at your disposal with just two button pushes. And finding Blades and use them to fight with you feels great. I can't deny that character models are generic, but, I prefer generic than horrible (XCX character models were awful imho). I'm digging the art style though, bit more colorfoul than the previous one.
