Inventory management was my least favorite part of the last two games (well other than the creepy black-haired girl in X). I remember in the first game, I would actually plan on spending 5-10 minutes at the beginning of every session just managing everything, just to get it out of the way. I honestly don't find anything fun about it...but maybe some people get into that. *shrug*
The more streamlined the inventory management is, the better for me.
