I don't think he's wrong.

People are dogging what he says too much just to hate. He isn't being a troll. PS4 Pro clearly had very different design ambitions from the XBO-X, and that's okay. It's not worse. It's a different system catering to a different demographic.

He's not saying it can't compete, he's saying it's not the same thing, because it's not. XBO-X is a console for people who want something closer to PC performance without the headache of a PC. That never was what the PS4 Pro was trying to be. PS4 Pro was just trying to be a better PS4 for VR.

So much needless demonization in this thread.

But the thing is, most games will be fairly comparable on Pro and XB1X. Did you see Digital Foundry's test on Assasins Creed? It uses checkerboard upscaling to 4K on XB1X. It's not native. And it runs at 30f. And this is expected to be the case for most multiplats. There will be a few that are native 4K, but that's going to be rare. Hell, some even are on Pro, like FIFA. But for the most part, Pro and XB1X will be the systems you go to if you want better framerate or upscaled resolution. Obviously XB1X will look better. But not a whole lot, I imagine, since the games are designed with the lowest common denominator in mind. (XBO)

I agree with this but the difference might be in 4K textures which could make the X1X look like the PC Ultra.  This is something that is not being showcase with at least 3rd party games at E3 but could be something that ship on release.  With the amount of memory and bandwidth, I am hoping this will allow more developers to ship or download those 4K textures and assets which will get the X1X closer to a PC Ultra setting.
