I didn't watch the Treehouse stream, does this game still retain the auto-attacks ? It's the only thing that prevents me from playing the first two, even if I own both of them.

From what I remember from the Treehouse segment, you can't just run around in circles and auto-attack like in the last two games; you have to stay still to trigger it.  Auto-attacks can also combo up to three times I think.

Mm, that was one of my problems with the auto-attacks, seeing my character swing his weapon when it wasn't even facing in the direction of the monsters frustrated me really fast. It seems to have been solved now,

Yes, auto-attacks are still in there, but they have been tweaked. Not that I'd expect that to change your mind, but now they only trigger when the character stands still. They have also been turned into a combo system, so if the character remains in the same spot, the second auto-attack does about 50% more damage than the first one and the third hit about 100% more damage than the first one.

I see, thanks, it does seem more interesting that way. I like to support Nintendo when the company takes it chances with big JRPGs, so I'll be buying the game anyways, hopefully 'third time's the charm' will hold true to its meaning.

...what? I don't get it, what is wrong with auto attacks?

I just don't like them, and I believe I already discussed that with you before (or at least I remember your avatar)
