It will pass the NES when Sony gives its shipment update for the quarter ending June 30th. I'm guessing 62.5 million or so shipped by the end of June. It will pass the 3DS by the end of December, with a small chance of the inevitable being delayed until the end of March.

First 5 months of 2018 doesn't look much slower, it actually looks like it could be even crazier
GOW (announced for early 2018, most like March, as per tradition)
Monster Hunter (announced for early 2018, wildcard for Japan)

Kingdom Come Deliverance
Possible SOTC Remake, Spiderman, or Days Gone. Plus probably others I'm forgetting, are not announced, or will be delayed.
