They needed to focus on the things that set them apart from Sony and Nintendo, like Xbox Anywhere, Modding and Development on Xbox, and the much more rounded OS. Instead they focused on things that for the most part are coming to PS4 and Switch. I don't see the XBX $499 price as a problem. It is a premium device for enthusiasts. It is for people like me that are willing to spend $20K on a home theater. For people that just want a 4K expereince, but don't want a premium price tag, they have the XBOS, which offers 4K upscaling + HDR, and full 4K HDR video support. I am pleased with what I see from Microsoft, and I will actually be jumping back into their ecosystem for the first time in 4 years. I hope they continue to push Xbox closer and closer towards a closed Windows PC, and release even higher end versions. This is what I have always wanted from Xbox, as I really like the Microsoft ecosystem, I love the power of PC, but I have zero interest in full blown Windows and unoptimized, oversized PCs. |
On consoles games are the primary thing that matters. Their show showed off a lot of nice titles but revealed how weak their first party is once and for all.
