One of the things that equalizes it a bit for me is that I'm generally not fond of RPGs, for that matter MGS/Tekken/Gran Turismo/pre-RE4 Resident Evil.

For me the highlights of the PS1 were stuff like Crash Bandicoot, Wipeout, and Spyro.
