How can the 7800 class be high-end if there was also the 7900 class with several models faster than any 7800-GPU? 7950, 7950 Boost, 7970, 7970 Ghz and 7990.
The 7800 class was also almost 2 years old when PS4 lauched and it was already replaced by the R9-series by then. (R9 280x, 290 and 290x all launched before the PS4).
The 7800 class was also not in the $300 range anymore when the PS4 launched, it was in the $130 - $160 range at that point.
GDDR5 was used since summer 2008 as GPU-memory... so more than 5 years before the lauch of the PS4.
And we don't have to talk about the CPU of the PS4 + Xbox One, do we?
