Nope, developers close to the development of the system supposedly say it has nothing to do with legacy or retro hardware. It's a totally new console that has been in development for years. 

Yea, well, I'll believe it when I see it.  Definitely not going to believe a guy on some random Atari forum.  And on the small chance it is a new console, I guess I will enjoy watching it fail.  It would be stupid beyond all belief to release a new console, now.  Atari already was a laughing stock thanks to the likes of the 5200 and Jaguar.  I think a lot of people have forgot about that or weren't alive when it happened.  Don't know why they would want to be tied to another failed console.
