I think it was for a wrong turn/no turn. That was over 4 years ago. It really annoyed me because there was no reason for that spot to be a no left turn spot. The cop was just doing his job though.
Edit. I actually read the op after I posted. i disagree with the whole discrimination thing. Be more careful of where you park. You kinda seem like the type so don't be a dick to cops. Best way to avoid tickets in general.
