I'm not worried at all about truth in the administration or Russian hackers. It's a narrative that is largely wasting time. Even if the very worst of the accused Russian interference is true (leaking things that the DNC was doing or covering up), it's doesn't change the result of the election. The best possible outcome is for organizations in the US get better on cybersecurity and for old people in charge to learn how computers work.
As far as how much the US government really cares, I don't think there's going to be a ton of reaction. The US plays plenty of roles in the elections of other countries, so it's hardly surprising that another country allegedly meddles in ours (even if the accused action has zero impact on the actual vote collection or vote count).
