This. Microsoft honestly should just piggy back on Vive or something. Don't take a risk on something that isn't panning out. Kind of like the Greenbay Packers, they aren't worth your time.

MS isn't really making their own VR or mix reality device outside of Hololens.  They already have agreements in place for OR and other OEMs like Intel, Dell, Acer for the mix reality devices.  MS sees themselves as the platform for VR/ Mix reality and view it as a bigger eco system then just games.
