Yes, most of the fighting was nearly over by early 1942. January 1942 is very close to September 1945.

The US supported the Nazis? How?

Large US banks and even George Bush's grandfather supported the Nazis. The U.S. sold fuel and lots of other stuff to Nazi Germany. Freaking Henry Ford was friends with Adolf Hitler and actually inspired him! Actually until today former Nazi families play a big role in the U.S. of A. You can't forget racism in the US was much worse in the past centuries and those ideologies even influenced the Nazis back then.
