I didn't go further in the posting history because PS4 Neo and Xbox Scorpio have to be buried somewhere in the middle (rumors popped up in spring 2016). I remember him saying that Neo and Scorpio wouldn't happen because it isn't something that third party developers want, so he was strongly insisting that all the rumors had to be false. That isn't the same as claiming that such mid-gen upgrades would be impossible on a technical level.

ok, maybe he didnt say they couldn't happen but he certainly said they wouldn't happen.

You're right,I did say they wouldn't happen. If you go back and read my posts, I said it wouldn't happen because I didn't think they'd be properly supported by the vast majority of developers unless they were forced to (which would piss them off, and lead to an assload of work), and as result, I didn't think it would sell very well.
Turns out I was right about pretty much everything regarding the PS4 Pro except the PS4 Pro hitting the shelves. That's a far cry from saying it was "impossible".
