Gamefreak does this every gen? Go ahead. Remind me when they ported Pokemon Stadium series to the  Gameboy Color? Or when they ported Pokemon Colosseum to the DS? How about when they ported Pokemon Battle to the 3DS?

What's that? Never happened? In fact it appears that the mainline Pokemon games have appeared exclusively on Nintendo's mainline portable consoles, and the Pokemon Spin-offs like Stadium, Snap, Pokken Tournament etc. only appear on home consoles. This trend continues with the latest announcement.

It's as if Gamefreak, like Nintendo, is treating the Switch like a home console first and foremost. Imagine that.

So when Nintendo ported Yoshi's Woolly World and Mario Maker to the 3DS, they considered it the Wii U's successor?

Ohh yes, the Wii U successor that was released before the Wii U. Totally sensible argument. You got me there.

Nintendo never claimed the 3DS was a home console. They have, however, claimed it was a portable console many times.
Nintendo never claimed the Wii U was a portable console. They have, however claimed it was a home console manu times.

Can you guess what they claim the Switch is? They're treating the Switch primarily as a home console. This is obvious. They've ported Wii U after Wii U game franchise to the platform from Zelda, to Mario Kart to Pokken Tournamant to Splatoon the list goes on. Meanwhile portable franchises keep getting announced for the 3DS instead of the Switch.

There is no evidence that Nintendo intends on replacing the 3DS with the Switch. It just seems like an obvious move. Nintendo's actions however, appear to indicate that this may not be in Nintendo's plans as obvious as it might seem to you or me. Again, I'm not saying this is going to happen. This 100% has everything to do with how Nintendo chooses to communicate information. They could quite easily nip this in the bud very quickly in one sentence that they have intentionally avoided saying when asked directly.
