Splatoon did well because it filled a gap in Nintendo's library; team-based shooters. It had all the necessary Nintendo quirks/quality and was a genre that had been demanded. But Arms? But nice is that trying to fill for Nintendo? Fighting? Smash Bros has that covered.

Splatoon didn't get a 90+ Metacritic score though, so I'm curious as to what reviewers fear now that they didn't fear two years ago.

Jim Sterling and Zelda is irrelevant because Zelda fans have been like that for a long time, as detailed here.  Not all Nintendo games get defensive reactions like that, especially not new franchises. Unless you think it's a phenomenon that'll be unique to the Switch?
