Why would they risk all that with a hybrid which wouldn't be that powerful and would be competing with other handhelds. Instead they'll obviously make the ps5 a direct sequel to the ps4.

In the not so distant future Sony will either replace their home console with a powerful portable, or turn it into a service. Traditional home consoles will be no more but the power gap between low/mid range gaming PCs and portables is going to be big enough to encourage some devs to prioritize PC for more ambitious projects.

No they will replace the ps4 with a more powerful home console called the ps5. It won't be portable.  

 

Ps4 is going to make them bank and sell 100m+. It's not broke so why would they try fix it?  

 

While pc gets more console games,  consoles get more pc games.  Both platforms are becoming more attractive,  not just one.
