Yes, and its very easy to do, Nintendo want basically change anything, same hardware. same clocks, same game, just more efficient chip and 1080p screen.
But 1st I think we will see Switch Mini/Pocket, cheaper, smaller Switch with 4-5" screen (same 720p screen) with longer battery life just for handheld play and that will effectively replace 3DS on market in $200 price point.
