I really hope Odyssey will stick to the release schedule for this holiday. Yet I'm somehow offput by the integration of the urban setting in the game. The one were we see what looks like New York. I'm allways fond of a Mario game in a fantasy universe, but putting him in this new environment, is a bold move. But I guess it'll be fun anyways.

Odyssey was announced in January 2017 as a holiday 2017 title and Galaxy was announced in June 2006 as a 2007 title, so neither game was planned to be a launch title and neither game had an official delay.

I remember reading the Iwata Asks for Super Mario Galaxy, and I remember it stating that Galaxy being planned originally as a launch title. However, the title was given more time to be developed internally, and this manifested itself in its announced release date.

So, the italicized isn't necessarily the case.
