Yeah, Kinect did really good for 360. I'm surprised all 3 consoles sold great that gen |
Not surprising. Microsoft was so terrified of launching with the PS3 that they rushed the launch a year ahead. This is most likely what caused the faulty R&D which caused RROD and so many revisions of the 360. Microsoft realized the reason why Sony sells so much is because they have the bulk of the third party games exclusive, so they took that years head start to make a console that could play all of the top third party games smoothly. If you look at the numbers Microsoft had split the former marketshare of the PS2 which was about 160 million in half. Both consoles had over 80 million units sold by the end of the gen. Sony caught up because...well....Microsoft cannot stop them. Not only that but Sony gives gamers lasting reasons to invest in their console. The only surprise that Microsoft did not expect was a $600 PS3 which aided their years headstart, even though they had their own mess to clean up. If you notied last gen outside of Gears of War...the only highlights of Microsofts E3 were primarily when they took key third party exclusivity from Sony (ie: Final Fantasy, Tekken & Metal Gear Solid.). People literally lost their minds when those games lost exclusivity.
The Wii was the only true surprise of the gen. 80 million is below par for Sony. Thats a high for Microsoft.
