Splatoon and ARMS are different. Splatoon worked because it appealed to a market that most first/third person shooters ignored. The trend is violent, gritty military shooters. Splatoon is a game about painting term and squids who love fashion. Its weird and colorful, so it fit Japan's taste better. You have to compare ARMS to fighting games. Most fighting games are overly complicated and lack any modes besides ranked. ARMS has a very simple concept and plenty of modes. That will be the key to its success. |
They also suffer from annoying/game breaking lag when playing online. Arms has been flawless so far. This is the first fighting game that has been consistently playable online for me.
