Oh, and of course the PS4 and XB1 have hundreds of games while Switch has virtually nothing. I am glad to see that the PS4 and XB1 have now been relegated to pushovers. |
TBH, I think it was because a lot of people saw it as more of a handheld than a home console (myself included). In this case, the price was pretty much absurd. However, Nintendo positioned it as a home console. As its success don't seem to be impacting negatively the sales of PS4/X1, I guess that the Wii crowd probably skipped the Wii U entirely and is now upgrading to the Switch.
If that is indeed the case, then we could see the Switch reaching numbers close to the Wii while PS4/X1 combined would beat PS360 and (a HUGE maybe) this gen could end up with more consoles sold than the previous.
And yes, Switch is a current gen console, not an "early next-gen" machine. They simply cancelled the Wii U and launched a real successor to the Wii. It's clear that Nintendo will cut its lifespan when PS5/X2 launch, probably only trailing Sony and MS for 1.5-2 years or such.
