That came to my mind many times while playing the game, it feels more like an action-adventure and there is nothing wrong with that. 

Color Splash is definitely action-adventure with some RPG elements. 

Ironically this game have better Zelda dungeons than BotW. Paint hummer and cut mechanics implemented very well.
