Definitely but we already have long discussions about this in other threads time ago, the debate is getting sterile at this point, specially when there is so much proud in the middle. Game was charming, gorgeous, fun, hilarious, well written, with a lot of variety in the levels and it didn't felt or looked generic beyond the clonic Toads, but oh, it didn't had the same combat system as the first 2 Paper Mario so is complete shit and deserves to burn in hell... yeah, I don't think so.

A fundamental part of any RPG is to have a good battle system. It's like the cement base to a house. If it has cracks and holes the whole structure built on top of it will fall apart. If an RPG has a shit battle system its gonna suck as a game overall cause youre gonna see that glaring flaw of a battle system all the time.

"Yes yes, despite the horrible base and gas leaks, the house is okay, its amazing!" It's a bad RPG. It may have a good story or whatever but it definitely doesnt got the mechanics to back it up.

In the end its not because the battle system was different. It's because the one in SS and CS is complete garbage that shouldve never been in the final game

I haven't played Sticker Star, but I think that Colour Splash battle system is not exactly the same (not sure though).

Anyway, although it's true that the battle system is less than stellar, many levels don't require a big number of fights, so that makes it a bit less annoying.
