My biggest take away is how much better the uniforms looks than Discovery's drab ones. Not sure about the comedy, but I'm more apt to watch this, which I did not expect.

Yeah, it's pretty funny and sad that Orville looks better than Discovery. 

 

No way dudes. Orville is comical, it reminds me of Galaxy Quest. If there was a Orville prequel, I'm sure the uniforms will look different too. Now about the uniforms in Discovery, I think it fits fine in term of the timeline.

Enterprise: Enterprise NX-01 Launched April 16, 2151

 

Discovery: Discovery NCC-1031 Launched unknown.

 

NCC-1031, which is a low registry number, which means that the ship is an early era ship.
