"By 2017, 4K UHD TV sales will hit 20 million a year in the U.S. That number will grow to 23 million in 2018, and 26 million by 2019, Shapiro said. The 2016 growth rate is 105 percent above the units sold for 2015."
Since Sony saved Blu Ray from HD DVD and Microsofts failed attempt to use HD DVD, I believe they came to the conclusion that not enough 4k (or 4k blu ray drives) tvs had been sold to justify going global with a 4k console even though the blu ray association has been selling 4k blu ray players to compliment 4k tvs. Sony is known for being the primary platform for the adoption of new formats. The PS5 will launch to the broadest audience possible most likely within the next two to three years and use their market power just like the PSOne and PS2 to spread their association. Much like the PS2...Sony will market the PS5 as an affordable hub for the ultimate 4k entertainment for all. Much like the PS2....the PS5's world appeal and price drops in 4k tv prices will justify many people to make the jump to full 4k. Its growing quickly, but not quick enough. The only screw up Sony made was buying Gaikai and thinking that BC through streaming was going to be the next big trend. Streaming is big but gaming through streaming is not as reliable as they think just yet. It is only to one up Sony. Microsoft cannot reasonably say they put out a 4k console for a small audience to reach the mass market. LOL |
Its not always about releasing hardware at its peak stages of tech. Its sometimes getting ahead of the curb. PS3 released with Blu-Ray when Blu-Ray wasnt even a thing. PS3 manage to continue to sell for 10 years using Blu-Ray as its driving force. Something the Scorpio will try to achieve because in acouple years time it won't be expensive expecially agaisnt a newer PS5.
Sony saved Blu-Ray? Haha dude HD-DvD and Blu-Ray is a completely different market to gaming. Games today is becoming more digital. You dont need a disc to run formats anymore. 1 big reason Sony didnt include a 4k player in the Pro was to lower the price (Sony 4k Players wouldnt be cheap and they wont source a cheaper alternative brand) where as MS could easily fit a cheap 4k player from any brand since they dont make 4k players just like the XB1S.
Sonys PS4 Pro failed to attract the 4k market mainly because customers arent going to buy into a fake 4k (checkerboarding) if people want to upgrade they will buy the real thing. Scorpio is in a different boat to Pro. Its a True 4k machine marketed towards the premium customers and enthusius. Its not meant to outsell a PS4 or XB1S. Those that spend thousands on there entertainment centers will see the Scorpio as a welcome edition not the Pro.
If you say you might aswell wait for PS5 than you might aswell wait again for the XB2 since thats most likely going to come out after PS5 and be more powerful again.
Iv reas majority of your threads. You clearly dont like the Scorpio. Not sure what you have agasint it. Its a machine meant to benefit console only gamers. I am a 4k PC gamer and im glad a company is out there pushing the 4k market. Its awesome thing not a negative.
