I think for movie audiences, if they hope at all to make a multi-movie franchise, dedicating the first movie to telling the story of how Nate and Sully became such trusted friends, in an untrustworthy "profession", is important. I personally feel the need to know the reason why, in UC1, when Nate finds out Sully survived being shot, that Nate was so sure there was an explanation other than Sully betraying Nate. And the reason for Nate's such strong trust in Sully is buried in the untold years between the UC3 Prologue and UC1. I am more than happy for the first few movies to tell those stories and to not tell any stories of UC1 and events thereafter. Eventually the movies would have to bring us the Nate-Elena love story, if the first ones are successful. But I would say 2, maybe 3, pre-UC1 movies would be good before the briong Elena along. Including a movie that covers Sam's apparent death. Will be interesting to see how many UC movies Holland has been optioned for, because that will give us an indication of when Sony sees then transitioning to 30-something Nate and recasting the role. |
