I don't understand why people are saying the reasoning is poor. The project lead said it's not feasible. I think he probably knows more than pretty much anyone in the world what kind of work it would take to get their game onto the Switch and what kind of experience that game would be on the Switch. It's pretty clear he thinks that's not the kind of experience Bungie deems worthwhile to pursue.

he didnt say anything about the work to port it or performance, he said it was because its an online only game.

Perhaps I should have made myself clearer. I didn't mean to comment on the diffiulty of porting to the Switch, or the performance of the Switch. My point was that it appears to me he's saying that Bungie might not be comfortable putting in the effort for a result that doesn't mean their threshold of "an acceptable experience". They might not comfortable making a game that forces users of a semi-portable console to only play it while connected to a TV, or sees their users getting frustrated playing an online-only game against other players online that have much better connections than they do, and the kind of experience that entails. I'm not too sure.

It's just entirely possible they did properly investigate this and came to a conclusion of "this is how Destiny 2 would run and play on the Switch at home and on the go" and decided against that.
