Right now is actually a great time for any and all indie games to be ported over due to both the Switch feel being ideal for smaller, yet still rich and creative, experiences and due to a decent lack in established titles. The system is easy to port to as evidenced from comments from developers who have already ported their titles. Later though as the market becomes more saturated, it may be easier for a phenomenal, smaller budget title to be overlooked.
Getting new legs on existing indie titles through porting or reinventing is brilliant for developers; creating a ground up experience that you are not sure will be a success at the time of launch is still going to be a gamble. If 3rd parties continue to skip the Switch with their biggest titles, however unlikely but possible, then this becomes a mute point and Switch will become the indie/Nintendo console that "is just so hot right now."
