To answer the OP,  no I wouldn't buy.  Not into handheld gaming.  The vita was bought for me as a present.  Never bought a handheld and never will. 

While it may be that, people aren't buying it to play it on the go. Without the TV out, the Switch would have tanked outside of Japan.

People are buying it for the dual functionality. That's the whole point. Console games on the go (no more 3DS type bite size experiences).
