I think this is a weird point to make today, because it was true for the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, in fact it's why most people 3 years ago used to think it would be Marvel's first real flop.

Nowadays, it's quite the stretch to say the Guardians are anything else besides A list. They're pretty widely known and Marvel is making sure to keep that widespread knowledge going, what with the Telltale series, and the new cartoon, and all that kind of stuff. Baby Groot alone is going to keep this franchise relevant for a while, because kids.

Anyways, I've now watched the movie a whopping 6 times, beating out the 5-time record previously held by the first GotG (obviously I'm talking theater-only, as I've seen that movie countless times since the home media release)... and yes, I know I shouldn't be proud of this, but as long as it's making me happy, I don't care.

The big thing keeping the Guardians from A-List status is time.  If they maintain and become staples of birthday parties, toy aisles, and othe mediums (cartoons) then I'll say A-List.

I will give Marvel credit for getting the Avengers to A-List, but they had a long history of being B-List or borderline A-List in their 50 yeas.
