As of April, no 3ds/2ds model was available in the eshops of all major american retailers, they had the prompt ''check in stores'', Amazon/Walmart were selling from third parties at inflated prices.

Just wait for New 2ds xl in july for safe conclusions!

They could have sold more but not much imo. The Switch has all the handheld hype in America atm.

Yeah but being above 100k isn't same with being at 60k levels...

Anent switch having all the handheld console hype in America... At 299$ with 60$ games and not being so portable/durable? ( the superiority of switch hardware and software for a handheld console, probably won't justify all these for someone who games exclusively on handheld consoles and  for parents/kids, unless they have monetary comfort )

You exaggerate!

[ Switch main attraction is that it offers home console and handheld console experience for just 299$, or being an inexpensive home console with which you're playing on tv lying on the sofa in your house and you can keep playing if you have to go to the toilet or outside home for instance. As for the average handheld console gamer, who expended 169-199$ ( or less if we include 2ds )  for 8th gen portable console ( who wasn't it purchasing at 249$ )  and 40$ for its games, a more compact and afforable switch revision is needed ]

Your assumption is possibly based on something fallacious! ''Oh look that huge early switch sales numbers, this can't be from home console gamers, given the wii u or other Nintendo home console  commercial flops, so it's handheld console gamers since Nintendo has scored big numbers in that market every gen''  People can be interested on games that are on  a console though, that they don't like its concept, its price e.t.c, consequently they don't purchase it but they will probably acquire  its sucessor if it satisfies their standards.

( Nintendo promotes  it as a home console that you can play with it  everywhere and anyhow!  )

Switch might  have enticed  some of the wii audience ( casuals and multi-console hardcore gamers ), or NES/SNES/N64 players, or even gamers that have never touch a Nintendo game before  and were enchanted by TLOZ BOTW or the switch concept!
