Well i dont know if thats part of the reason but in my case (and especially with this game) i never cared about portability, in fact playing outside only takes away from my enjoyment... the sounds of people talking in the backgrounds, the sound of cars passing by, the light of the sun reflecting or obscuring the screen, so many things that distract me, nothing like playing at home with no one and nothing to distract me and take away from my experience.
Also Disgaea is the type of game you play for overly long sessions of multiple hours, i wouldnt like being limited by the battery life of the thing and besides when i ever used any portable devices it was for small breaks and stuff like that (during work, College, School etc. and never in any of those did i had the time to play something like Disagea, which is better played if you have a giant amounts of time to invest in it in every session).
