That was up to dec 31st 2015, my bad, it may not be as many as their older systems, but it's still a good bit. Plus that's without 2016/2017s offerings (which were obviously slim pickings) but if my count is correct it puts Wii U info having at least 40 in-house Nintendo games made for it.

Although it really doesn't show what was Nintendo made (1st party), 2nd party made, Nintendo paid for (W101, B2, Lego City U) or if it even counts Nintendo published titles.
I'm focusing on Nintendo's 1st party efforts because those are the relevant ones and those are the ones their consoles do live off.

Also, i'm pretty sure you'll see in there small projects like the NES remix games, Dr. Luigi and Pushmo, which take a lot less time to develop.

I'm pretty sure i wasn't one of few to complain about Nintendo's support regarding Wii U.

I believe in the article, they state that they don't count digital only titles in the counts, and I doubt it counts paid for titles. I believe it states that it's only Nintendo made titles that are not digital only titles, so stuff like Pokémon picross and the recent dr Mario games aren't counted.
