What does this even mean?

It means that every unmarried adult as the right to a legal civil marriage with any other unmarried adult.  So if you are a dude and you want to marry a woman you can, or if you want to marry  a dude you can.  It was decided by the US Supreme Court as it marriage discrimation violated the 14th admindment.  Obama helped embrace and enforce the rules.

He was a good man, and a good president.  Really going to miss him.
