For quite time Nintendo is doing focus on games only that are relesed in near future (3-9 monts). So like they said, "focus on 2017. games", but that doesn't mean we will not see any 2018. game.
Also, just before anywhone freaks about "with a focus on games launching in 2017" part, the last Direct had a focus on Splatoon 2 and Arms, but it never stopped them from talking about other stuff.
