I think there will still be a market for portable-type smaller games on Switch for a budget price. Though it might be more indie games that take that market rather than Nintendo IPs. But hopefully Nintendo still devotes some resources to smaller "portable" games.
Though I do think if the 3DS gets continued software support for a while and Nintendo drops the new 2DS price down to $100 with a game, or less, then the 2DS could continue to sell as the standard portable small game type system, picking up lots of new sales from kids, and then the Switch will have some of those types of games but won't fully get into that market until the 3DS totally dies off.
