As a gamer: I would have rather the Wii U did not exist. I know Wii U was essential as a stepping stone to Switch in console design, HD adoption, marketing, and consumer reaction; without the Wii U period, we may not have had the Switch as we know it; however, the Wii U was a failure on all accounts. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sales in contrast to the Wii U debut is firm and undeniable proof that there were too many errors with Wii U's marketability. Even I was feeling lackluster and ghostly afraid for Nintendo's future in the months leading into its launch. The Wii U was also sadly the home to many titles like Mario Kart 8 that deserved an opportunity much more worthy of their gaming merit, to reach a much wider audience. Yes there will be ports, thankfully. And if there is enough definitive ports of Wii U's more high profile experiences, then I will gladly rid my living room entirely of the lost opportunity, and awkward eye-sore, that was the Wii U. Yes, I'm mad about it.
