This new 2DS is what the original 2DS should have been. I don't know why Nintendo did it, either they thought it had to be as cheap as possible or maybe they were trying not to sabotage 3DS, but for $50 less, I expect this model will virtually kill off the 3DS XL.
Sales probably won't be amazing but it will do it's job of extending the "3"DS into 2018, making some extra money and also providing a low-cost Nintendo product for those who don't want to shell out for Switch.
