I have no idea why you think it's "definitely time" being that we're only 8 months away from the launch of the PS4 slim, but then again, I have no idea why you use a playstation vita as your cellphone. "Digital Only" isn't there yet. Hard drive prices and internet speeds aren't there yet. MS Learned the hard way that the world is not ready for digital only, and not much has changed in the last 4 years.  For what it's worth, 4K isn't there yet either.

Almost every single one of the ideas you've suggested for Sony's future would undoubtedly lose Sony millions of dollars. This is yet another one of them.

I was going o post a long drawn out explanation, but people on this site have zero interest in Sony expanding its business, or the console market being viable in the long term.

With that said, I completely disagree. Digital is not viable everywhere, but it has its place, just like 4K. This move, and bringing all Sony products to PS OS and PSN, are absolutely moves Sony needs to make for long term success. A digital only PS4 would have massive return on investment, because everything would happen via PSN. Android based devices, and Blu-ray game sales are no profit and low profit business.

Sony can expand it's business intelligently without chasing pipe dreams and investing in developing products no one would buy. Insisting that Sony develop their own OS is the most laughable suggestion of all. It's completely nonsensical.
