It's possible that it may gradually scratch the screen. There's some pretty easy solutions though:

-Put a Screen Protector on it (probably a good idea regardless)
-Stick a little felt inside the dock or get one of those cool dock covers (I got three myself lol, the designs are great)

As you can see, the screen is definitely quality but it's also prone to scratching as it's plastic rather than the more common among tablets glass (despite actually looking like glass in the hand). They made that decision not only for affordability reasons but also because it's no where near as prone to the screen cracking that you see on so many people's phones.

Basically, then, I'd highly recommend a screen cover. It's a great screen, but it's also scratchable... I haven't seen much evidence that scratching in the docks is common whatsoever, but it may happen over time.
