The big stigma with Nintendo and western 3rd parties is the perception that only Nintendo games and exclusives can sell well on their platforms.  Skyrim is a big test to me when it comes to western 3rd parties because it's a game that's both beloved by non-Nintendo gamers and made by a developer with no real presence on Nintendo platforms.  If a game like that can sell an amount comparative to what it sold on the xbone then it destroys the stigma and I think it's possible because the  Switch finally has a feature in its portability that can make a Switch version of a multiplat more desireable to some than one for the xbone or PS4.

This is the flaw in western developer's thinking though that a late port should be a test, why should Switch users have to go out and buy Skyrim to prove something, if the platform continues to do well developer have to be the ones to put out genuine efforts for consumer's money not monitor a late port's performance.

The real reason western developers always stay on the fence is not a consumer one but an indutry one which involves factors like licensing fees and platform holder retaining a lot of influence etc...
