5) however, I do think it's safe to assume that the majority of, let's call it unofficial emulation (ie. Not backwards comparability or backed by the owners of the consoles you're emulating), don't own the original products they're emulating, and have done so through means of piracy.

6) Where I am is somewhere in the middle of it all, although I do think I lean more towards piracy since that's how I've always seen the majority of emulation used for, rather than buying the games, people have downloaded them and used an emulator in order to play them.

7) I'm not going to call people out over emulation, either in a post or by making a thread about it, but I do think that if you have the right to make a thread about it, then people also have the right to debate it, whether it be in the same thread or its own, since as I've said, I do believe that you can't talk about one without the other coming up, and having a good ol' back and forth is a good thing, as long as you keep it civil.

8) Also just so you know, the mod team has heard you, it's been brought up in the mod chat, and the decision is this;
We are going to let things stay how they are. We won't be moderating emulation threads or people who disagree with the topic and bring up piracy within said threads, unless of course either the threads or individual posts include the promotion of piracy, and/or links to illegal downloads and/or sources.

 

 

1) So you are encouraging people to go ahead and make offtopic shit posts? So I'm guessing when a person makes a car thread, I can shitpost how they are hurting the environment?

2) That isnt true whatsoever. Just because emulation can lead to piracy doesnt necessarily mean emulation is used for piracy reasons. You are also promoting discord in a topic of discussion that is deemed fine according to the rules of this forum but bypassing another rule in the same process? What is logic?

3) "HEY, XBox players, dont buy a Xbox, because you can buy the first party games on PC and all third party titles on playstation!" - would you allow a response like this in the Xbox Empire thread? Please answer this specifically, I want to know.

5) Can you prove that the users who engage in the topic on THIS FORUM do exactly that? Or are you basing that because of the entire internet? Thats like that one guy who blamed an entire group of people because their leader of their country are acting in a certain way. You are pointing blame to people here who do not engage in that (as far as I know).

So I take it I can go to the Xbox thread and tell people not to buy first party games on Xbox One because you can play it on Windows 10 PCs and not to buy multiplats because you can play them at a better resolution and better frame rate on the PS4? You are fine with that? Thats exactly what you are saying here in comparison. "You cant talk about one without the other" which means I can do the earlier stated right?

You got mad before when someone said this term, but it applies huge to you. You basically want a safe space to talk about your "emulation"

Open any topic on this website and no matter how good natured the topic is, you will have the flip side of that coin. Someone saying the game sucks, someone saying their game is laggy, someone saying ect.

To call out the mods and want them to force your EMULATION thread to be purely a positive topic is just being a needy crybaby.

As for emulation and piracy, for every 1 legal emulator you have 99 that are using it for piracy. And those "legal" emulators, the majority of them probably also downloaded their rom of said game. So even though they may have a physcial copy of said game, they still illegally downloaded said game. Very very very few actually rip said game themselves.

So if Nintendo or Atlus (seeing as Persona 5 and BOTW are the main topics these days) went after you, they most likely would win. Sure you coudl show the judge your copy of said game, but they woudl have proof of your IP/computer/whatever downloading an illegal copy of said game online. You are guilty of piracy.

Same as if you buy a Music CD and yet still illegally download those same songs you purchased online for use on some other devices. The courts will still find you guilty of piracy, which you are. You illegally downloaded material not yours and used it.
