I think live press conferences are on their way out. Unlike the Wii U itself, Nintendo was actually able to forsee this year ago. The younger audiences are more likely to tune into the internet than they are to a televised broadcast. Then there's also the lack of appeal of a live event. Thanks to internet leaks and how we obtain overall information, those show lack the appeal they once had. This can especially be see with Apple, arguably the company that singlehandedly mastered the live event. By looking into their supply chains and reporting about it online, almost nothing they do is a secret anymore.
